Joseph Neel Reid bought Mimosa Hall in 1918 and redesigned the property, including the front lawn. He installed this beautiful fieldstone walkway, which later owners of the home used as a driveway. Reid also planted boxwoods to line the front walk. Some arborists believe that the boxwoods lining the walk today are the originals planted by Reid. The City of Roswell has trimmed them down to a healthier length which will allow them to flourish again.

Mimosa’s front drive was originally heart-shaped, like Bulloch Hall’s next door. The tall, knobby red cedars on the lawn were planted in the 1840s to line the original drive. These cedars are not only unique specimens, but they’re among the oldest trees on the property.
